Course Description:
This comprehensive training session is designed to equip correctional staff, reentry professionals, and service providers with the knowledge and skills required to implement Risk Needs Assessment (RNA) effectively within reentry services. Led by Dr. Carmen Colquitt-Turks, an experienced corrections program manager, this interactive session will provide participants with practical tools to improve outcomes for individuals transitioning from incarceration back into the community.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Define Risk Needs Assessment (RNA) and explain its significance in reentry services.
• Identify key criminogenic needs that impact recidivism rates and client outcomes.
• Understand and apply the Proxy tool as a screening method for assessing risk levels.
• Describe the Transition from Jail to Community (TJC) Model and its integration into correctional programs.
• Develop strategies to implement RNA-driven interventions that align with TJC principles.
• Demonstrate Orijin Tablet Based TJC RNA Assessment Tool
Instructional Methods:
The training will utilize a combination of lecture, group discussions, case studies, and interactive exercises to engage participants and reinforce key concepts. Audiovisual aids will support the learning experience, and participants will receive comprehensive reference materials for ongoing application.

Target Audience:
This training is ideal for correctional facility staff, case managers, probation officers, and reentry service providers seeking to enhance their understanding of RNA and implement evidence-based strategies for improved client outcomes.

Participants will receive a detailed course guide, instructional handouts, and access to supporting resources such as the Transition from Jail to Community (TJC) Toolkit.

Prerequisites:
No prior RNA experience is required; however, familiarity with correctional case management practices is beneficial.
